Edible Estates: Attack On The Front Lawn Fri, Mar 7, 2008 - 7:00PM In 2005, Los Angeles architect and artist Fritz Haeg planted the first “edible estate” garden in Salina, Kansas—the geographic center of the United States. One front lawn at a time, the Edible Estate project is replacing the domestic front lawn with a highly productive, edible, organic garden landscape. Three more prototype gardens have since been created in California, New Jersey, and England, with two more Edible Estates forthcoming in Texas and Maryland. New York City

March 19th will mark the beginning of the 6th year of the U.S. occupation of Iraq. Enough is enough! We are organizing creative, nonviolent acts of civil disobedience in Washington, DC, to interrupt business as usual for those promoting and profiting from war and empire building. Our actions will take place at multiple sites, demonstrating the real costs of war and offering visions for a more just and sustainable world, a world at peace.

Sign up to let us know you'll be joining the actions in Washington, DC, on March 19th. While many people will be risking arrest, there are also tons of support roles that need to filled. Please indicate below if you plan on risking arrest or if you would like to play a supporting role and/or participate in non-arrestable actions. On this sober anniversary, we will join hands to symbolize our unity in the call for peace and for funding our communities, not war!  Join us to form a human chain on 14th St. from Ave. A to 11th Ave. in Manhattan, on Saturday, March 22.  Bring your friends, your banners, your signs.  We will stand, hands joined, from noon to 1:00.  Then both ends of the line (at 11th Ave and Ave A) will march in towards Union Square with each block filling in as the march goes by. Sponsored by United for Peace and Justice.
